Shingo (Artist)
Creates photography, calligraphy, and wave sound videos.
Born in Kanagawa in 1978. Influenced by music and street culture of the 2000s, he worked in the apparel industry in Kanagawa and Harajuku while studying design. In 2008, he began photography after meeting a surf photographer. Later, while working as a web designer, he started photographing surfing and landscapes based in Shonan. In 2015, during his first visit to the United States, he was exposed to diverse art and surf culture. After returning to Japan, he encountered calligraphy while seeking new forms of expression beyond photography and has been working actively ever since. In 2021, after losing his job, he launched the YouTube channel Namiuchigiwa ch, featuring relaxing wave sounds and coastal scenery, which reached 10,000 subscribers in three years. Since 2025, he has been creating original works utilizing calligraphic lines.
Through various forms of expression, he explores the theme of the sea, aiming to create works that appeal to both sight and sound.
